[edit] Background

The Association for Molecular Pathology is a not-for-profit scientific society dedicated to the advancement, practice, and science of clinical molecular laboratory medicine and translational research based on the applications of genomics and proteomics. The AMP started when a small group of colleagues in the molecular pathology field decided that a professional association, focused on molecular pathology, would best promote the specialized discipline. While the focus is "all molecular, all the time" the reach is broad. Currently the AMP's initiatives include patient access to appropriate testing, as well as the appropriate oversight, regulation, reimbursement and practice guidelines for molecular tests.

Coming up is the AMP's 14th Annual Meeting and Exhibits October 29-November 2, 2008, at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, Grapevine, TX.
