Congress is the federal government’s legislature. The lower chamber, the House of Representatives, consists of 435 members who each represent one district.

The upper chamber, the Senate, is made up of 100 elected officials, two from each state. Congress makes laws that affect the entire nation. Recently, Congress passed the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), a bill that provides federal protections against genetic discrimination.
