Gene Therapy and Other Molecular Genetic-Based Therapeutic Approaches

Gene therapy is a technique currently under investigation, the goal of which is to correct genes making dysfunctional or non-functional product. Functional copies of an affected gene can be supplied to affected cells, or harmful gene product can be "turned off" so no damage is done.
