In 1969, in response to the development of prenatal diagnostic techniques, a Human Genetics program was founded at Sarah Lawrence College. Their emphasis is on an interdisciplinary and comprehensive education in human genetics for professionals in order to improve health and healthcare for individuals. Their accomplishments are diverse, and range from a newsletter called Gene Scene to a genetic counseling student exchange with Jordan University of Science and Technology.
