The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Division of Human Genetics, is dedicated to patient care, education of healthcare professionals, research, community service, and advocacy. The medical school celebrated its two hundredth anniversary last year (it is the oldest public med school in the country), while the Division of Human Genetics was founded in 1981. Its influence reaches throughout and beyond the state of Maryland as the University evaluates and treats hundreds of families for genetic conditions and concerns and trains a variety of healthcare professionals.
